Radeon X1800 GTO, Tearing Issues

I hadn't used the Desktop computer I put together a few years ago in a while, so I started using it again not long ago to make sure it's ready for the new up-coming game Warhammer Online. (Since WAR can't run on Mac's )

Anyways, I ran a few games and found that it is Screen Tearing in certain games. It's not horrible, but it's definitely annoying. Counter-Strike: Source, Portals, World of Warcraft and WotLK Beta all screen tear in-game, some far worst than others.

Here are some screenshots I took of some of the tears:

I tried removing then reinstalling the drivers, then updating them with the most updated drivers.. and still having tearing issues. Is the card possibly over-heating now? What could it be:confused:

Since you said that you haven't used the computer in a while, i would imagine some dust. Take a can of compressed air and spray the computer out. To me, it sounds like overheating...or just that the card is just getting old.

Dust traps alot of heat.

check the temperatures with ntune. you can get it at nvidia.com.

tell us what the temps are. did you leave it on a lot when you werent using it? if its at a moderately high heat, and you left it on a lot it could just be dying on you.

Also, if you do find out that the problem isn't anything to do with temperatures then you may want to enable vsync and see if that does anything...it probably isn't anything to do with vsync but it may be worth a try.
