raid 0 help

i just bought 2 1tb WD drives from newegg and plan on running them in raid 0 once they get delivered. problem is i'm not too sure how to set it up, and haven't found that great of tutorials by googling. i've been told it's relatively simple to do, so if anyone on here can help me get started on what to do or have any links that are informative that'd be great.

and if it matters, the motherboard i'm using is an evga 780i, and i'm using a 500 gig WD right now that i'd also like to run for extra storage in addition to the raid setup if possible
 
You will first have to go into the bios enable raid function after attaching the hard drives. Then you will have to go into the raid utility and setup your array, the motherboard manual will explain on how to do this. Depending on the OS you install you may need to install the raid driver so the install can actually see the drives.
 
okay that sounds easy enough. i'll be installing windows 7 64 bit. when you say install the raid drivers, is that something done before or after the installation of windows? sorry if that's a dumb question this is just somewhat unfamiliar territory for me
 
You will have to do a new windows installation if windows will be this raid array. The driver will have to be installed before hand. Again the motherboard manual will help you do this usually.
 
Most likely you will not need to manually install a RAID driver, Windows 7 should have them pre-installed.
 
yeah i downloaded the mobo's manual and it wasn't too helpful aside from showing a screenshot of the bios. i also looked on evga's site for a raid driver, and there isn't one for windows 7 so i'm assuming you're correct omega. i guess now all's i have to wait for is my drives to come and i'll see what happens.

one last question though, in the bios when i chose what drives i want in the raid array, how do i set it to raid 0? or does it already do it?
 
Well, I just downloaded the manual and its not very user friendly. Basically you enable raid function in the bios and then you boot into the raid utility to configure the raid. Raid 0 is called striping, Raid 1 is called mirrroring.
