Raid 0?

Well i was wanting to set up raid zero on my computer and was wondering if its best to have two large sized drives or four small sized drives for speed when playing games

For raid 0, i wouldnt use more than two drives. Although,if you want to use 4 drives i would suggest raid 5, as if one drive fails in raid 5 the array can be rebuilt.

Raid 0 is fast but it also comes with a risk. Your computer shares information between the two drives in Raid 0. If one fails...you loose everything on your computer. I am not a fan of Raid 0...I lost about 30GB of music and two years of family pictures once. I will never forgive myself for that mistake. I took my drives to a computer shop and the guy tried everything...even took apart a brand new hard drive and tried my disks in there:( He worked on it for days. It completely messed it up when it failed.

It really depends on what you do with your computer that will determine the best Raid solution. What is your goal with your computer?

What I do now is have several smaller drives not in any Raid setup and have pictures and important things on more than one.

1. Operating System, important stuff back up and general everyday programs installed.

2. Games, GPU Folding client, photo editing and movie editing and important stuff back up. You will never do any of these things at the same time. When I edit a photo...it reads and writes very quick...nothing else is using that drive at that time. When I am gaming...speed is no issue...nothing else is using that drive at that time.

3. Random odds and ends stuff I use once in a while. I also have another Folding client installed here...that lets me run CPU and GPU from two different drives without conflict. Also I have everything backed up here.

The only real pain with a setup like mine is...when I take pictures from my camera...I have to copy it in 3 different places.

That's just my 2 cents...take it for what it's worth:) Post back and let us know what you decide and what you plan on doing with your computer:D
