RAID problem

I got a Asus A8N5X mobo and got 2 36gb wd raptors and am having issues installing the RAID. I have the drives powered and are in the sata1 and sata2 slots on the board. Go into bios and they are there. Go and enable RAID and then enable sata 1 and 2, save and reboot. Go back to bios and the drives are no longer visable under sata 1 and 2. What is the problem? I can even go into the RAID utility and it shows them. I'm confused.
 
fresh xp install. made the raid driver disk from the mobo cd. do the raid setup and then start the install of xp. hit f6 to install raid drivers. installs raid drivers fine, get's to where you want to install xp and doesn't find the drives. that's what my problem is. after i enable the raid in the bios the drives arent' shown after the reboot and go into bios.

IIRC, after enabling RAID you'll only find the drives under the RAID thingy. You'll have to enter the raid configuration util (CTRL+K or CTRL+F or something like that, it'll say) and then you can configure the RAID array :)

Whoa odd. Might therebe different drivers?
