RAID question

ok, i have been using a 80gb sata drive with windows on it, and have bought a new 100gb sata drive and put a couple of games on it already, iwas wondering if i were to raid the two drives together as they are, will i lose all the information on them, or will it still be there?

What kind of raid are you looking to set up? Read Raid 101 for details.

If you are looking to set up any raid, you would need to backup the data, create the raid, then move the data back onto it. Your raid would only provide you with the amount of space on your smallest drive if setting up a Raid-1, if a Raid-0 then it would be just under twice the space of the smallest drive.

not sure but couldent you just set it up normaly and make one the master and the other the slave? or load to both it would take more time but i think it would work

Personally unless you plan to do stuff that requires a lot from your drives I would stay away from raid.

Quote from the above link

"RAID0 is really only benificial when doing sustained (preferably sequential) IO operations. To explicitly say it, you will not see an improvement in random access -- so dont expect any improvement in video game performance."

I have heard enough horror stories of RAID0 and people losing tons of data from their drives toasting/array corruption.
