raid0 vs ssd

It's been ask before, but I'll ask again.

I can get 2 500gb hard drives (7200 rpm, 16mb cache) for $28 each
and put them in raid 0 and install all the programs I want

or I can go ssd for $204 (120gb)

For the price to speed to storage ratio...which way would you go?
The drives are seagate by the way and the ssd is ocz

well that depends if you want space or speed.the two HDD in raid will give you say 100-120 reads/writes compared to 240+ reads/writes of the SSD.if i had to choose between the two i wouldent, ill drop the 120gb SSD get a 60gb SSD for $130 and get two 500gb HDD for storage(raid),which will come out to be under $200 total.dont take my word tho, thats just me.

I want enough space on my hard drive that I don't worry about swapping programs, but I want it to load faster than my awesome maxtor pata drive. the problem with the 60gb is that just by have windows 7 and WoW on it, almost half the drive is gone.

yeah i know what you mean,WoW is 30gb+ with the lastest game(cata)my wife has/plays it, and w7 is like 20gb so yeah the whole 60 SSD is gone.but where im getting at is you can put you OS on the SSD and your games on the two 500gb HDD, raid 0 of course.

Well, doing that, It would cost about 190. I might as well just go the extra 14 (which would save on shipping) and get the 120gb. but I'm wondering, about the speed difference. is it really that much a gap?

Putting the games on the HDD gets you right back to the HDD load times and even RA times. So diminishes the SSD advantage you want.

But as said no clear answer speed or space what is the correct answer. I don't know it depends.

But 2x500GB SATA should be much snappier than than you Maxtor IDE/PATA.

I'm looking at getting 2x 1TB WD SATA3 drives in RAID0 and wait till the SSD drop in price. I was looking at the same question though what type of performance will I be looking at with two SATA3 drives in RAID0? I currently run two 250GB Hitachi sata2 deskstars in RAID0.
