RAM:backwards/forwards compatible?

Hi, I have a 512MB DDR333 memory strip, my friend has a computer with only 128MB of DDR400 memory. Can I help her out by installing the 333 in a machine that normally takes 400?

Im pretty sure because each memory is a DDR form. This should work. It will probably go alot faster.

More than likely it will work, it will just back clock to 333
