I have three sticks of RAM:
1) Kingston 512MB DDR400
2) Kingston 512MB DDR400
3) Kingston 256MB DDR333

Which setup is better??
1. 1GB running at DDR400.
2. 1.25GB running at DDR333.

I don't have a dual-channel mobo.

I'm gonna play Battlefield 2 with a 128MB video card.

He has 3 slots, it seems. Anyways, I'd go with the 1.25 and try to set it to force DDR400. Even cheap value Kingston ram ought to be able to bump a bit higher.

As saurian said, I would go with the 1.25GB since the speed doesnt make much difference, but if you can, try to overclock them all to DDR400 speeds.

what i've learned from an overclocking forum i also belong to is that the important thing isn't the rated speed of the ram (remember, plugging ddr400 ram into your mobo doesn't mean that it's RUNNING at ddr400 speeds) but rather what actual memory chips the stick is running.

I've heard the "D9" ram is rated anywhere from ddr2 500 to ddr2 1000, for example, but any of the sticks can be run ~450mhz, and the only difference on the 1000 sticks is that they have heat spreaders, or even water cooling pipes.

The other difference is the DDR2-1000 labelled sticks have been tested to run at that speed. Just because you've got Micron D9s it doesn't gurantee you're going to be able to run them at DDR2-1000 speeds.

Yea, i agree with most here, just get the 1.25gb and try and make it run at DDR400. If you cant OC it to that, the 1.25gb should still be better anyway.

Now I'm only using 1GB at DDR400 and I see some performance improvement. Maybe I'll try 1.25GB at DDR400.
