Ram confusion

I'm new to all this computer malarky and ive just had a computer build for me. i want to upgrade the RAM / memory and im struggling to work out the numbers and what they all mean. Ive only got standard ram in there and i want something the ocz raptors or some corsair stuff. I currently have 667mhz memory in there and there ddr2's. do i need to buy 667mhz ram or can i go for 800mhz and above?

Look up the memory specifications for your mainboard (either use the mainboard manual that comes with board or google the model number) to find what RAM is supported by your board. There's probably more than one speed supported, make your decision from there.
 
Can help you out here, first things first though. What CPU and motherboard do you have in your PC?
