RAM & CPU co-ordiantion problem

1) Is it possible for two cores on same die to write or read from the ram chip simultaneously..???
Or it always require some arbiter circuit to do this . ..

I always thought that cores shared the memory to whatever needed it the most, no mater if it was simultaneously or not.
