ram/cpu/mobo for very close to $500, heres what i got

mobo needs to have firewire
got gpu coming hopefully trade w/jet
got my hd for xmas
already got the rest

so thoughts opinions?
not much gaming here although i would like to be able to play shockwave games at a decent clip, but thats mostly the GPU

i do a lot of multitasking-
aim
msn
nero burning dvd
firefox
bittorrent
all running at the same time mostly and dont want to be waiting around

I agree, for what you do, a simple Athlon 64 would be more then enough.

Get the E6300, not the 6400. It's worthless, really, to spend the extra money for the 6400.

I have a 2800 right now, and it drags when multitasking.

I also want to eventually get a TV tuner for it.

so something from the X2 lineup would fair well here?

no then id be getting a lot better ram, probably a case and some other stuff also
