i recently bought a desktop computer...

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1970062&Sku=H24-2312

and this ram to upgrade it...

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1611504&CatId=4534

i put it in after i already had the computer setup and it only would beep at me with the ram in. i tried both slots and i did not force it to go in at all. does anyone have any idea what my issue is? and any suggestions on what kind to get for this computer?

Does the original memory installed allow it boot up? If so, then the memory you bought is bad.

yes it does boot up with the original ram. i thought the same but after calling them they sent me another without having to return the old ram and it did the exact same thing. which is why iam asking now because i feel like its more than bad ram... unless iam just realy unlucky.

Your RAM is probably too fast for that PC. It comes stock with PC-10600.

EDIT: After searching Crucial.com, the only memory supported by that machine is DDR3 PC3-8500 and DDR3 PC3-10600. So the RAM you bought is too fast and will never work with that computer. If you had the AMD version of that computer, then the PC3-12800 should work.

ohh. dang thank you very much i apreciate it a whole lot! looks like ill have to hawk these 1 sticks and get new ones

The problem is that your comp will only take 2 x 2 gig sticks for a total of 4 gigs..
You can't use a 4 gig stick.
The speed isn't the issue.

crap! thanks, that realy sucks but why is that? iam having some lagg with a game and was hoping more ram would help

First you clean the RAM slots by letting air in inside mouth release forcefully at the RAM slots on the motherboard. Also clean RAM card also by a soft cloth. Then you try again by fitting your to the slot. If it did not work try another working RAM on your machine and if it works that means the RAM you got was a faulty one.If the working RAM did not work then your motherboard may be faulty.

That's weird though, because whenever I bought faster ram for my old PC, it the ram would only run as fast as the motherboard supported, but still worked.
