I have a Dell 4500

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.4 ghz, 256mb Ram,NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 running Windows XP.

* I would like to know what ram I would need to get this running a little smoother? I'm not sure on what type of ram there is and which one to get?
* Would ram help improve this pc? or is it just too out of date.?
Thanks always,
JTM

Its got in it 512mb of DDR SDRAM. Hmm i would have a look how many DIMM slots your motherboard has !

I would just get another 512mb stick of PC3200 DDR SDRAM.

yea, if you only have to slots filled with 2 256 sticks then you might have to remove one and put in the 512, this is assuming you only have 2 slots filled with 2 256 ram sticks though, but no worries

Make sure to check out the speed of your RAM also, to make sure when you add another one, they're the same speed.

just go to www.crucial.com and there's this pretty nice tool that tells you exactly what kind of memory your computer will take - even if you don't buy it from crucial you can at least see what you will need to get. good luck in the shopping.
