I'm in the process of buying a Dell XPS 7100 and i was wondering should i get 4gb of RAM or 3gb of RAM because 4gb will kinda be pushing my budget.

I'm mainly asking will the extra 1gb of RAM make a big diff. in games like WoW and MW2 for example with the AMD Phenom II X4 945 + ATI Radeon HD 5670 with 1gb dedicated memory going with it.

Tyvm for any help :D

depends if your getting 32bit or 64bit windows, 32bit windows can only address max of 4GB of RAM and then it reserves space for graphics memory and other stuff, so realisticly only 3GB of usable RAM so installing more than 3GB of RAM on 32bit is a bit pointless, where as 64bit can address alot more. New games usually use about 1-2GB of ram some pushing more then you gota add on OS and other backgroud software which adds up to about 3GB, 3GB should be in fine but 4GB is better obviously more room to play with.

Either way my best advice would be not to buy from Dell and learn to build one for self or atleast even go to a good computer shop and get them to custom build you one, it'll be cheaper than dell and better.

Depends on how many channels the motherboard supports. If it's dual or quad, which I have a feeling it is, it won't support a triple channel setup like 3gig. I imagine you could use 2 or 4 just fine on a dual channel motherboard.

You seem to have taken the build it yourself route from your other post, please try to keep to 1 post rather than several in future
