Ram help (command rate)

I'm looking into getting 8GB of ram (preferabbly 1066Mhz but I'll settle for 800MHz) and I'm a bit confused on T1 and T2 timings. I've heard that you can only run T1 if you have 2 DIMMs, but then other people have told me that it's possible with 4 DIMMs. Can somebody clear this up?

Oh, and one last thing, 4 X 2GB would be better (faster) than 2 X 4Gb right?

P.S. I know 8GB is unesesary, but as we all know, hard drives are the major bottlebecks on almost all computers, so I'm wanting to get a lot of ram, and turn my paging file off.

After searching, I'll probably go with this RAM (times 4) because it's cheaper than getting one of the 8Gb kits.

4 modules run at a command rate of 2.

2x4GB is probably slightly faster but really, the difference in timings is only seen in benchmarking. In real performance there's very little difference.

ANSWER: yes, but only if you have dual channel. dual chanel in theory gives u about 10% more juce.
ANSWER2: On some mobos if you use all your memory slots the memory frequency automaticaly switches to t2. ( read RAM 101 secton on the forum for more detailed info)
Dont wory about the timings they only improve perfromance in about one digit %. Focus on the memory frequency.

Either configuration would be dual channel if the board supports it (I think all new ones do now)

One thing to think about getting 4gb sticks is make sure your board will support a 4gb stick in one slot. Most newer boards now will support 8 or 16gbs but if your board supports 8gbs it could be possible that it will only accept 2gb sticks in each slot.
