Hi, ive just bought a new motherboard. I have read the user guide and it showed up text boxes of ram that is possible to use. I have checked online at stores for each ones but the part no. are different. Am i still able to use these rams?

yeh-they are the rams they will garantee will work at point of printing but there are new models come out all the time etc!!

wouldnt worry about the part number!

what motherboard have you bought?

A ASUS P5QL Pro ( lame) lol im on budget. I edging against the known RAMS e.g. G.SKILL, Corsair, OCZ etc. But im on tight budget damnit.

Hmm these are not possible to use as it doesnt say in the user guide. Thats also i was cornered on. Is it possible to use other ram that doesnt say in the user guide. Top is 1066Mhz capibility

I am a member of the Asus forum also...just a heads up...a lot of people have problems with OCZ RAM in Asus motherboards, it can get very unstable. I have used Asus motherboards for years and I would recommend Corsair, Crucial or G. Skill RAM. Even Corsair value RAM will run great in that board. You can find 800 MHz Value RAM for pretty cheap. Maybe you can find some good 1066 RAM. Since you are on a tight budget...800 MHz RAM will run fine in that board and costs less:)

I,ll back up what ScOut said. I have and have known alot of people thats had problems with OCZ and Asus boards. I dont use nothing but G Skill anymore. Of all the sticks I,ve bought of G Skill, never had a board Asus/Gigabyte or DFI that would not boot with it and run stable.

do you think?

i posted not that long ago about the ocz ram and everyone was like ye its really good and my ballistix ram was crap, i was going all out on the ocz liquid/passive cooled modules :(

What kind of a budget do you have for RAM?

Where can you buy computer hardware in AUS?

I can give you a few recommendations if you answer these questions. I will do a little research on the Asus forum and see what RAM some Asus Gods I know would run in that motherboard. :)

I have had nothing but problems with OCZ RAM. Some people swear by it and love it, I will never buy any again, made that mistake twice now. That's just my personal experience.

I live in Adelaide ( Australia ). My budget is 50-85 AUD. Stores im looking through are MSY ( very unnaccurate but cheap) Photech and Allneeds Computer(local but great deals)

Also, can you past this on. Is this motherboard any good for gaming? Im getting a 9600gt PALIT or MSI. If do have any info that would be nice!

Your motherboard is fine for gaming! You will have to make some BIOS adjustments (RAM voltage, FSB:RAM ratio, and FSB speed) but that's not a problem!

9600 GT....not a bad card but there are many better out there. What is you budget for a graphics card?

Here are a few recommendations for you...all three will work great in your motherboard. All Needs Computers has a good price on PC8500 1066 MHz RAM.

But just a note: 800 MHz RAM is fine, That's what I run in my computer and I'm pulling over 14,000 on 3DMark06.

Photech:Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400 2GB for $75
http://www.photech.com.au/Controls/Products/ViewProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=4355

Photec:G.Skill F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ 2GB (1GB x 2) PC2-6400 (DDR2-800) for $80
http://www.photech.com.au/Controls/Products/ViewProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=5379

All needs Computers:Gskill 2gig kit (2 x 1gb) PC2-8500 DDR2 1066 dual channel for $75
http://www.allneeds.com.au/category96_1.htm

As for the MSY store....my 11 year old daughter can make a better web site than that place! I would not even think about buying anything from that place. Customer service I would assume is a night mare with a place like that!

Photech is a sick website....They have some outrageous prices and some really good deals. They look like a really good company.

myself...I would go with the Gskill 1066! Great RAM company and a good price:D

Note:if you do get the 1066 MHz RAM....you will probably have to under clock it to 800 MHz. A friend of mine just sent me a message and told me that "it is very hard to get that motherboard to run stable with the RAM at 1066 MHz, not even worth the time and effort"

My budget is something like 120? Wow you seem to know very very much about ASUS motherboards thanks man! And yeah i have joined the ASUS forums so i give you some credit.

I actually run my RAM at 667 MHz for stability. I work for the U.S. Department of Defense and I'm gone a lot. My wife uses it and can't fix a crash or lock up if I'm gone.
