Hopefully this is a simple fix:
I've got an old computer (originally purchased in 2003) and I stole some old RAM from my dad's computer bought around the same time. I wanna toss it into my rig, but I'm having issues. When I install it, everything boots normally (even shows all the RAM in the first boot screen), I log into XP and as the desktop starts appearing, the computer spontaneously reboots.
AMD Athlon XP 3000+
MSI KT4V Motherboard with VIA KT400 Chipset
*2 sticks 512Mb Kingston RAM
Trying to install:
**1 stick 512Mb of DDR266
Is this just because the sticks are different speeds? Is there any way to make it work?
*[Kingston 512 MB DDR SDRAM Memory Module
Kingston 512 MB DDR SDRAM Memory Module
DDR PC2700, DDR PC3500, SDRAM PC100 - 512 MB - 333 MHz - PC - DIMM, IC DRAM Card]
**Can't find any brand marking on the stick
