RAM location?

I'm just wondering if there is an accessible folder or location where RAM is stored as files temporarily? I'm using XP. Cheers!

HUH??? Everything running at bootup and then whatever you run while your computer is on is stored on the memory chips. Then when you go to shut your computer off is offloaded back on to the computer basically. I'm not sure if i described what you wanted but let me know if I didn't.

RAM doesn't store "files" per say. It's just information for the computer. Might you be trying to access some kind of TEMP folder? If so, in the address/location bar at the top of Windows explorer type %temp% and that should get you to your temporary files. For windows at least. IE's temp folder is elsewhere, and Firefox doesn't really have an accessable temp folder.

Thanks, that's what i needed to know guys. I'm not actually looking for the temp folder or anything. I was just wondering if there was an actual viewable representation of what was stored in RAM. I'm still learning, so maybe i worded it a little funny or the question was clearly stupid to someone who knows what they're talking about!

A file that represents the address space of your memory would be technically possible to make, but xp doesn't have such a file.

You would need a memory editor/viewer for this.

They make programs that will copy whats in your RAM to a file but unless you really do your homework you won't be able to understand it. But if that's what your looking for look in to some digital forensics programs that capture RAM data.

Also you could possibly talking about what is in the your virtual ram/ page files.

I think he was looking for a file that when accessed would go to memory instead of the harddrive.

A bit like memory mapped files, just in the opposite direction.
