RAM missing

I just bought and installed two 512 mb pc2100 sodimms for my hp ze5300 to replace the two 256's. My problem is that dxdiag says my total memory is 958 MB's when it should be 1024 MB's, whats the issue?

also, another question that has to do with the hard drive. I have a 4200 rpm 60 gb and was going to upgrade to a 7200 rpm 60 gb. HP says my mobo only supports up to 5400 rpm. Plus, i turned the thing over and tried to find the hd but there is only a ram labeled spot and another slot that when you unscrew there is a connector and then the mobo, no HD. The only other unscrewable part is the dvd drive. am i missing something here?

you know what, thats probably right. Does this mean i can increase the amount of memory the gpu uses so I can play games faster?:P thanks

btw its an ati igp 340m 64mb

EDIT: SWEET! I went into the BIOS and turned the baby up to 128 MB. I have gig of ram so I would love to use as much as I can. Is there a way you can force it to used 256 MB through some sort of crack or something?

Nope theres no crack for it. theres no way you can increase the video memmory on your graphics card.

Crack? No. Custom-written BIOS? Yes... but you'll pay handsomely.

No you cant, but honestly you wont notice any difference. Onboard graphics are extremely slow, and the difference between having 64MB and 128MB is most likely not even noticable.
