ram+motherboard=overheat? (an indecisive buy)

I just recently bought a new laptop and I don't like the amount of ram on it (512 MB). I checked the manufacter's site and they wanted an arm and a leg for 1GB. From the website I observed that the ram in my laptop had a FBS (front bus speed) of 533Mhz. However my laptop can handle a FBS of 800Mhz. The only problem is ventilation that the laptop receives is somewhat minimal and I am afraid it may overheat and mess up the laptop :( . However I could buy the more expensive ram with the heat sinks. Also I have 2 slots total so if I could use the 800Mhz ram would it slow down to the speed of the 533Mhz ram or would the CPU chose the higher of the two bus speeds.

Thank you all for your time and comments,
Chris

never try to overclock the processor in laptops, insufficent cooling and stock heatsinks/fan leads to quick failure.the RAM witht eh heatsink is not going to make much of the difference unless most of the heat comes from the RAM. but if you're sure that that laptop can take the stress go for it. run a stress on it before using tho.

no overclock just solid speed

I wasn't even thinking over overclocking it necessarily just uping the amount of memory for vista even though I heard it was no good but I don't like the way my system is set up now with the defaults. From what you have told me I might just buy the 533Mhz speed ram taking the other ram out and do a stress test then put it back in if all goes well I'll have close to a 1GB and a half! :)
