I just recently bought a new laptop and I don't like the amount of ram on it (512 MB). I checked the manufacter's site and they wanted an arm and a leg for 1GB. From the website I observed that the ram in my laptop had a FBS (front bus speed) of 533Mhz. However my laptop can handle a FBS of 800Mhz. The only problem is ventilation that the laptop receives is somewhat minimal and I am afraid it may overheat and mess up the laptop
. However I could buy the more expensive ram with the heat sinks. Also I have 2 slots total so if I could use the 800Mhz ram would it slow down to the speed of the 533Mhz ram or would the CPU chose the higher of the two bus speeds.
