RAM not detected

alight well iv just tried to install a 256mb ram into my computer (demension 4100) but it does not detect it, stock it has 256, ( 2, 128 cards) and i had already upgraded one slot to a 256 so i had 384mb of ram, so today i bought another 256 and it doesent detect it, and now after i tried to put the 128 back in the computer wont start...any help would be appreciated.:mad:
 
check if the ram shows up in bios, it could be a bad stick if it doesn't come up right

If its a bad stick, the memory test will spot it.

Sounds like this might be a limitation on the mobo? What type of tam is it?
