Ram problem not reconizing pc3200

ok , i just install a 512mb pc3200 stick of ddr sdram and in bios and everest it says its a 512 stick of pc1600 , also in everest when u do the memory read benchmark the monitor jacks up and when it comes up it say im runin 1260mb/s and i used to be runing around 2400mb/s , any help?

Go in BIOS and manually set RAM frequency, timings, and voltages to manufacturer defaults. If that still reads wrong there is eithe something wrong with your mobo/DIMM slots (not too likely if this is the only RAM causing problems) or there is something wrong with the RAM.

Possibly test in another computer and make sure PC3200 is compatible with your mobo and its no auto-downclocking it. Might have to run out of sync if your CPU/MOBO can't keep up with 200FSB.

i just rebooted and looked in bios and i noticed that the cpu is runin at 1.2ghz instead of 2.1ghz , ill try to set the bios to defaults ... also right before this happened i was screwin around with some of the jumpers on the mobo , but i KNOW i put it back like it was. ill reboot and set bios to defaults , also i hav a oem mobo so it doesnt give me all the options , but ill try to set it to default ne ways

ok , i got the ram to be reconized as pc2700 , and i figure out that the processor fsb is runin at 100mhz instead of 266mhz , also in everest it says the processor is a amd athlon xp-a , instead of the xp 2800+ thats really in there

yea , but i still cant get the processor to clock at 2.1ghz , its at 1.2 or sumthin rite now , and i dont know how to get the fsb up to 266mhz i think thats the reason its runin at 1.2 cuase the fsb is at 100

your mobo might not be able to run FSB of 266. That might be your problem.

To get it to 2.1GHz with 100FSB, you just need to up the multi.

if you are SURE the board is able to run 266FSB, maybe it jsut doesn't have neough voltage to CPU to clock that high.

is there a program or sumthin that will able be to mess around with the fsb and multi , i tryied cpufsb but it doesnt support my pll , and i have a oem motherboard and it wont let me mess around with it in bios ethier, or is there a way i could just set EVERYTHING back to defaults? :(

An xp2800 won't take DDR400, that's why you can''t get it up there...
Yes it will.

Change the FSB to 133 and you'll be set :)

hey guys... this maybe kinda stupid of me to ask, but...
what is fsb?
and how do you configure your bios?
Have a look at the CPU101
