RAM problem

i bought a new CPU unit, and the RAM is 2x2GB(4GB) but when i read it inside my computer properties it only shows 3326MB of RAM available. hw can tis be? is it bcoz of my vista 32bit?
hw can i fully use up all the 4GB of RAM?

i hav a corsair RAM n the latency is 4-4-4-12 but when i equip into my mobo n inside the BIOS i set everything for my RAM to be auto. then when i use CPUID to check my processor speed and others i notice tat my RAM is actually running at 5-5-5-18. so can i change tis setting manually in my BIOS setting to 4-4-4-12? will it affect my RAM performance?

Yes it is because your OS is 32bit. I believe there is a patch (or maybe it's part of SP1) that will have windows show you your full amount of RAM but that's all it will do. Only 3326MB will be usable.

The only way to have the system use all the RAM is to get a 64bit OS. If everything is working fine as it is except for this RAM reading then I wouldn't worry about it. This is a common occurance and isn't an indication of bad RAM or anything like that.

You can and yes it will increase the RAMs performance but only slightly.
 
You should go to the Corsair website and get all the timings and voltage for your RAM. The RAM is tested and they have determined that these numbers are the best settings. You will have to enter them into the BIOS. When you are on the website make sure you find your specific RAM, they have many that have similar model numbers, but the timings can be different. Also, the default RAM voltage on most modern motherboards is 1.8v.....with 4-4-4-12 timings I would be willing to bet you also need to add voltage. That information will also be on the Corsair website. You might have to increase to 1.9v or a little higher. Enter all that info and do some testing, everything should run fine!

I did a test with mine and set all RAM to "auto" in the BIOS and it was wayyyy off from the actual recommendations from Corsair.
