Ram problem?

Hey Folks,

Dell Dimension 2200 - XP Pro.

I recently tried to boot from a flash drive with a small version of XP on it, but it did not work. When I tried to reboot my computer normally afterwords (i.e. from the HD, not the flash drive) I received a boot error saying the RAM has changed and I need to confirm this. Now the computer won't boot at all and I get post beeps 1, 3, 2, and diagnostic lights Green, Amber, Green, Amber. These errors all have to do with memory problems. I tried unplugging the comp and re-seating the RAM, but to no avail. The same post beeps and error lights still occur. I've searched around online and can find no solution yet. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

- Dan

You didn't do anything inside the PC during any of this right (except reseating the memory)?

You may also want to try taking one module of RAM out and attempting a start up with the remaining module. Be sure you leave the module in that is closest to your processor. If it doesn't start up with one module, switch the RAM module with the one RAM module you took out and see if you can get a successful start up with that.

lawson_jl: I tried resetting the BIOS to factory default and it didn't work

Cromewell: I did not do anything else when I reseated the RAM.

2048Megabytes: I haven't tried starting with only one of the RAM modules in (closest to the CPU). I'll try that when I get home tonight. Thanks.

I'm leaning towards bad/failed RAM as well (I think that's what 2048 is getting at). Another thing you can try is replacing the RAM or testing if the RAM works in another system.
