Ram Problem

I had 4 gigs of ram and it only showed 3.5 so i bought another 8 gigs of ram(same type) and it Still only shows up as 3.5.

I have a 64bit Operating System

What motherboard are you using?

as john commented: what mobo are you using?
some motherboards do not support that much memory
