Hello, I'm trying to install other OS on a laptop I got which used to run Windows XP. The problem is that during the installation I have always the same problem. I have consulted with other people and they tell me that it is a RAM problem. I have not found how to fix it. These are the lines that appear during installation:

[<c12d3423>] error_code +0x73/0x78
[<c1024c15>] ?native_safe_halt +0x5/0x10
[<cec4de41>] acpi_safe_halt +0x1e/0x32 [processor]
[<cec4dec7>] acpi_idle_enter_c1 +0x72/0xc9 [processor]
[<c1229c4a>] cpuidle_idle_call +0x7a/0x120
[<c10020b4>] cpu_idle +0x84/0xd0
[<c12c0ac8>] rest_init +0x78/0x80
[<c14037bd>] start_kernel +0x35c/0x362
[<c14031ab>] ?unknown_bootoption +0x0/0x19f
[<c140309e>] i386_start_kernel +0x9e/0xa5

Does anyone has an idea what these means or where I can research about it?

Thank you.

If your laptop has two sticks of memory remove one stick and see if the problem goes away... if not try the other stick and alternate with the ram slots as well...

maybe you are putting either too much ram in it or too little. check the hrz on the sticks.
maybe the ram is back. and as far as searching, google works for everything...
