RAM question (DDR800 bs DDR 1000)

How much better is DDR 1000 compared to DDR 800. Where would I expect the see the biggest gains? Would it be wise to buy one gig of DDR 1000, and wait for more cash to buy another gig of DDR1000, or just get DDR800 right off the bat? I would be using it for mostly gaming. On another forum I read that Corsair Dominator PC8888 is one of the best ram you can get right now, is that true? Is so, is it worth getting now, or should i wait? If i only have a Intel E6300, or 4300 once it comes out, would the better ram really matter with a lower-end processor, or does your gpu have more of an influence?

I realize that was A LOT of question, but i just want to research before I spend any money. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

It all depends what motherboard you plan on getting, and if you want to overclock. Just about any motherboard out there won't support anything higher than DDR2-800 without overclocking, so it probably would be a total waste of money to get anything more than DDR2-800 unless you want to overclock.

However, if you are planning on overclocking, it becomes a harder choice. Given that most DDR2-800 will reach DDR2-1000 speeds when overclocked, DDR2-800 would be the best value.
