Ram question

If I have this motherboard and this ram could I add two 512mb sticks of PC5300 DDR2 667mhz to give it an extra gig, and have them work together? Or would it be better to just keep the 2gb that I already have? I am getting the PC5300 for free and just wanted to know if they would work together, thanks.

It should work. But why do you need so much RAM?

What you have now operates at 800mh. The two sticks you wish to add operate at 677mh. Yes, they will all coexist, but the 800mh will drop to 677mh, as your system cannot run different sticks at different frequencies. Unless you do a lot of gaming (and even then...) you'd probably be better off with adding the extra gig and having everything run at 677mh.

I have 2gb already, and my brother has the two 512mb sticks and is replacing them with two 1gb, so he just gave them to me.

Very nice of him. Do you have a need for 3GB total RAM? You could always do what he did and pay it forward Just a thought, but of course entirely up to you.
