ram question

My current laptop blows and i have 256 Mbytes of DRAM

the laptop ill most likely be getting has 3gb ddr2 ram. Is that a huge difference? will i tell a different in amount of programs i can have open?

What lappy is it (make/model)? It sounds like it's old, it could be that you can't find any suitable, reasonably-priced RAM for it, and I doubt it could support 3GBs anyway. But you definitely could use some extra RAM on it... what OS are you running?

Sounds like the new laptop he will be getting has 3gb of RAM. You will notice a huge difference between the two. My desktop only has 384MB of RAM, and my laptop has 1GB of RAM. It's like night and day difference.

Oh that's right he's getting a new lappy, didn't realize...I already posted in that thread. Yep, the performance increase will be, well, massive.
