Dude, chill, age means nothing, and trust me my GPUs alone would probably be worth more than your new machine, let alone the rest.
Why would i buy any gpu more powerful than I need ? Only clowns like you do that for show.
What? It wasn't a PSU kink, I just don't like you suggesting garbage PSUs like here

On that point I notice you have changed your PSU. Amazing.
Thirdly, no, Ive been running RAM disks, and (what you ignored) virtualised environments, large Creative Suite needs for as long as it is possible. I would actually like to have more RAM as this would make the whole exercise a lot easier and straight forward. Regardless, the OP asked about 16GB RAM modules. So that's what we're talking about. Try doing large HD multistream video editing with 8GB of RAM. Fail.
The point here is that the cost per GB, which everyone uses as a value indication for RAM and other memory (e.g. SSD) makes this 48GB completely on par and good value.
So to answer the question, yes, you can get 16GB RAM modules, they're very useful in more than a handful of situations, and cost around $13/GB which for ECC RAM is pretty damn good value.
