i just bought some ram of off ebay 1 gb samsung ddr2 pc2 4200 533 mhz and i currently have 512 mb of pc2 3200 400 mhz of the same brand ram. which would be better have 1.5 gigs running at 400 mhz or 1 gig running at 533 mhz. i play alot of battlefield 2 and call of duty. i do some multitasking like recording tv shows doing virus scanning copying dvds and playing a game at the same time so which would be better more ram at slower speed or less ram at higher speed

i personally would take the higher speeds. one gig is still a good amount of ram for doing the things you described.

Yeah, I don't think that when you play BF2 or Call of Duty you'll go over the 1GB mark. Unless you really do require 1.5GB of RAM, go with the higher speed.

what about fear will that go over 1 gb. but what i am going to do is take the 512 out and put the 1 gig in and then buy 1 more gig of the same ram so i know i wont run out of memory

Fear will take over 1300Megs if available.

Are you saying that the game itself will take 1.3GB of ram, or that when you play it your using up 1.3GB of ram?

i got my ram from ebay and it works good. but when i took the other ram out it said it was 333 Mhz and it is supposed to be 400 Mhz. so dell put the wrong memory in. then my dad contacted dell and they are sending me a hundred dollars for my next purchase there.
