so im waiting on my athlon 4400x2 cpu and motherboard.. now, I have 2gb pc 3200 ddr ram (2 x 1gb sticks) that I bought in some chineese store, but now im looking online and I see ( OCZ EL Platinum PC3200 2GB 2X1GB DDR400 CL2-3-2-5 184PIN Pin Dual Channel Memory Kit /W Ramsink ) ... my question is, is this ram alot better then what i bought from some chineese store ? i mean they both ddr 400 pc3200, what does CL2-3-2-5 mean on OCZ brand ?

should i consider getting OCZ ?

There latencies from the RAM to CPU. The lower the number the quicker the cycles are. The only reason why i would upgrade the RAM is to overclock!

so if im not overclocking anything, any pc3200 ddr400 will be fine ?

also what if I try to overclock with the 2gb i got now, but it's not CL2-3-2-5, what will happen ? will fry ram?

Well it depends on what RAM you have !, it its just bob standard i would not overclock ! but if you relax the latencies you maybe able to overclock a little with out the RAM getting to hot.

EDIT: If you have the money and a Dual channel mobo i would recommend you buying some PC4000 RAM 2x 1GB and a good Heatsink for the CPU. This will give you a good system to overclock !

Also what you could do is set the divider so that when you overclock your CPU the ram doesn't get overclocked above its working speed (200Mhz)

If you set the divider to say 2/1.5
you can have the FSB at 215Mhz and still have the Ram speed below 200, so it wont fry the chips:)

but without overclocking it, everything should be fine ?

also aint the maximum 939 mobo can take pc3200 only ? it supports pc4000 ? isnt that pc4000 ddr2 which is only of intel ?

correct...for now. i wouldnt worry about overclocking right now, you should be fine with the ram you have. latencies arent only for overclockers, anyway, but dont lose any sleep over it. nothing is going to get fried.
