RAM Question.

Hey everyone. I just built my first pc. Nothing to fancy, just something to toy around with and run afew games. However, noticed i made a mistake and i was hoping someone could clear things up for me. My motherboard supports DDR 400. But, i failed to see that the first time around and bought DDR 533. My question is will my pc just top off and use the RAM at 400? Or will it not run at all? It is a 2gig (1gig x 2 ). Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you bought DDR 2 rather than DDR RAM. If so it will not work on your motherboard.

If you actually bought DDR2 533mhz memory return it for an exchange. DDR400 memory is 184pin dimms while DDR2 is 240pin. The dimms are slightly longer and won't even fit in the dimm slots. You will need PC3200 DDR400 memory.
