Ram Question

Okay guys, this is probobly a dumb question but, i have an hp a800n and my friend has a dell (not sure what model). He bought more ram for his computer and not knowing got too many. So my question is, would I be able to use the extra stick of ram in my computer? Its DIMM 512 333M 64x64 8K 184 pin.

okay i put it in and it works but its only showing 960 mb and theres 2 512s in there. Is there something else i need to do to get it to see more of it?
 
This is probably because you have Onboard VGA and your Video drivers are sharing a certain amount for your Graphics.


All onboard VGA does this, because it is not Dedicated memory the Vidoe drivers share some of your RAM.

If you want to lower this to have more ram I think you should be able to do it somewhere in the BIOS, but this will reduce your graphics performance in games:)
 
Thanks bootup05, that brings up another question tho. I have flight simulator, everytime i try to play it will be fine for alittle while then freeze up and just shut off. i think it has something to do with my temps on my mobo but thats a whole other issue and am working on that right now. im tryin to figure out what temps are what and i have an idea but im not sure so any help there too would be awesome.
