All RAM have holes or spaces of some sort... it all matters on how many pins they have in total. The holes are just to make it so that it cant fit in any other type of RAM slot.

There should be a sticker on the RAM that says what type it is.

Generally each CPU only works with one type of RAM, so if you tell us what type and socket CPU you have, we should be able to tell you what type of RAM it is.

Don't make assumptions you can't back.

It's SDRAM, because of the 3 sections. SIMM, DDR, and DDR2 all have 2 sections. Although it's possible that it's RDRAM.

yes it would. All I was saying before is that if it has 3 sections, it's SDRAM.

if there's 3 notches then it's definetly not DDR ram, it's probably SDRAM like Bobo said.
