how do I find out what size ram will work in a Dell Dimension 2400 computer?
I know that it takes DDR 184 pin stick but not sure about the rest of the specs.
Thanks.

re: bkribbs

Thank you for your quick responce.
The only way I can do the RAM Slot Identifier is if I disconnect my monitor, keyboard and mouse from my computer and connect them to the Dell.
I have a Kingston KVR 400/1 GB (184 pin DDR SDRAM/PC 3200/Cas. Latency 3/Voltage 2.6v.) of ram that I would like to put in the Dell if it will work. The Dell Dimension 2400 belongs to a friend of mine and I know it only has a stick of 512mb ram in it. From what I could find out the Kingston KVR400 that I have is a 184 pin/400 mhz/ PC3200. So I think this will work in the Dell but I don't want to mess it up if I'm wrong.
Am I right or wrong that it will work in the Dell?

Thank You

According to Dell:
Memory

Architecture
DDR SDRAM

Memory connectors
two

Memory capacities
128-, 256-, or 512-MB

Minimum memory
128 MB shared DDR SDRAM

NOTE: Between 32 and 64 MB of system memory may be allocated to support graphics, depending on system memory size and other factors.

Maximum memory
2 GB

Memory type
PC2100 (266-MHz) or PC2700 (333-MHz) DDR SDRAM (non-ECC)

Full specs: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim2400/en/sm_en/specs.htm

There is some conflicitng info in their documentation. It says it supports up to 2GB but which means you should be able to get 2x1GB sticks and run that but they say that the system supports up to 512MB sticks per slot.
