ram speed difference

Hi, i'm hoping someone can help me; i want to know how much of a difference performance wise there is between 800mhz/667mhz/533mhz ram. I'm planning a build and was thinking how much of a difference would faster ram (1GB) actually make in games. Could some one please give me an example of the performance difference in a percentage or FPS in a game. thanks in advance for any one who replies.

RAM is not responsible for much of the framerate in a game, its only a medium with which data can be stored and accessed really quickly. From experience there is a HUGE difference between 800 and 553 ram, as I have two computers that have one of each. But the difference in performance is noticed in really RAM intensive programs. Although I have noticed that my 800 RAm system does load games faster, but the framerates are about the same.

More RAM would increase performance in games but not make them look any better...

In other words it will allow the other components to perform theirs since it is the medium for which data is stored and used before and after 'processing' is finished.

For most people, RAM is always the most noticeable performance enhancing upgrade.

For gaming I would recommend 1 gig of 800mhz, however, you can easily get away with using slower speeds.

Thanks very much for all the quick replies. ETSA I think I will go with your recomendation of 1GB of 800mhz of RAM, and then later on when I have a bit more money I will upgrade to 2GB.
