Is it ok to have different speed RAM sticks in the same computer??

I have 4gigs of DDR2 667 (it was cheap) But I was thinking of maybe getting 2 more gigs of a faster kind, will it hurt it or is it perfectly fine??

Yes it will work, however the faster RAM whatever the speed is will be clocked down to 667, so you will gaining memory in quantity , but the speed will not increase at all. So you will be overpaying for something that cannot be utilized. Either replace all the RAM, or just buy more 667.

do you have a 64-bit operating system? you dont have system specs in your signature.

what do you need 6gb of ram for.. i only benefit from 3gb of the 4gb in my computer and i still dont use 3gb ever...

ok, thanks. I have 64-bit vista home premium.

And I don't know, I have a few bucks sitting around and thought adding 2 more gigs couldn't hurt any...Cheapest "upgrade" I can think of....and i have some more parts laying around, so i was thinkin of putting together a REALLY cheap spare computer just for fun.
