RAM speed question

Hi all! I am looking at my RAM properties in CPU-Z and am not sure of something. It shows the NB frequency which changes but right now it shows about 2170 mhz. In another box it shows the DRAM frequency, which is showing as 722mhz.
When I look at RAM on memory express, it shows a frequency of the RAM, a lot of them show as 1600Mhz. Which frequency is it talking about? would I benefit from upgrading to this RAM? Or is mine just as good?

thanks for any help.

For Double Data Rate memory, your effective clock speed is double what the actual clock speed is.

So you should see your sticks at 800 MHz for DDR3 1600

It's a slight difference but not enough to justify buying another set of sticks instead.

Depends on what you are doing. Major Photoshop editing and maybe video editing could benefit from faster RAM, but if your gaming then it wouldn't be worth it unless you want a RAM drive.
