RAM speed vs. Timing

Not really any expert here but I would go with the 1866 RAM and try to OC to those timings down a bit. Shouldn't be too hard.

your board would have to be able to handle the speed of the ddr31866. I would go for the other pair. lower timings, lower latency, $10 savings. The only reason I would get the corsair was because just that; it's corsair. Though g skill is a good brand too.

Yeah, my board does handle the DDR3 1866. So better timing is better than RAM speed? (I don't mean all the time, but in this case.)

And I don't mind spending the extra $10 if they're better.

Well, without doing the math, considering the cas latency AND the timing , you would see roughly the same performance from either set of sticks, so it's just a matter of saving $10.

You probably wouldn't even be able to OC the ddr31866 without decreasing the timing anyway, which can actually decrease performance depending on how the mobo can handle it.
