Hey CF. when i used to have 2 gb of ddr2 800 Wintec AMPX ram, i could oc to 2.7. this is on a stock cooler! now that i have 4gb, i can only oc to 2.5, other wise, it doesnt post. is my ram stopping me from oc'ing? what should i do?

Same happened to on my overclock awhile back. I overclocked my e8400 to 4.0ghz with 2 gigs ram and it was stable I got 2 more sticks of ram and I ran orthos and just couldn't get it stable. I just returned the 2 sticks back to newegg for refund. I would just check ur ram voltage try increasing ur voltage don't go past 2.3. Hope you have heat spreaders on the ram.

yea, i so if the stock voltage is 1.86, should i go up to 2.2?

edit: yea, it has heat spreaders, but i dont know how good they are.

I got ur pm for some reason it wont let me reply to to pm maybe its the forums. Regarding my Case I am not running stock fans on it I replaced the back fan which is 100mm with a Noctua and the side fan is also replaced with a 80mm Noctua fan. I dont use the side cooler for the vga since it takes alot of room. To be honest I wish I haven't bought it well I was planning on oc my pc but I did and the case is small and not that many fans to redirect the heat out of the case. Also I got a Noctua NH-U9B cpu cooler. All of the fans I bought from xoxide.com there are great company fast shipping. Going back to your problem 2.0 is good. I have mine oc running stable at 2.050v. When overclocking you need to just be patient and there is alot of playing around with settings. It took me a whole day to get my oc stable.

ok. thanks!

yea, i kept all of the fans except for the VGA, but to be honest, i dont think any of them are too great.

Yea I want to get new case from mountainmods.com its called the U2-UFO, a new mobo, probably the 680i or 780i and new video card ati 2x 4870 in crossfire. Maybe I will get all these parts 1 month or 2.
