I'm helping upgrade a friends computer and I cannot figure out what ram will work with his gateway pc. off the gateway website its has the ram compatability specifics which are here,

Installed: 512 MB PC3200 (400 MHz)
Four DIMM sockets that support the following:
2.5 V (only) DDR SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction:
Double-sided DIMMS with ×16 organization are not supported.

2 GB maximum total addressable system memory.
Minimum total system memory: 128 MB
Non-ECC DIMMs
Serial Presence Detect
DDR 400 MHz and DDR 333 MHz SDRAM DIMMs
Support for dual channel memory mode

I'm getting the ram preferably for gaming and cost is not a concern if someone could find 2x1 Gig sticks off of preferably newegg that would work with this motherboard I'd be forever greatful.

With DDR memory getting harder and harder to get hold of you will find that you will have a limited choice of DIMMs to choose from. You can thank DDR2 & DDR3 for that. Anyway there are some good kingston DDR PC3200 1GB sticks on Newegg that are around 60 USD each. But what would be better is having a look at Newegg's Memory Configurator System Tool.

All you will have to do is find out your friends PC model number, then enter it in and it should find all compatible memory types for you.
