ram/timings/voltage/speeds

You shouel be able to change those values in your BIOS. I am not too sure of the layout of your BIOS so you will just have to do some searching.

Have you enabled XMP? That should help the stability of your RAM.

Memtest is just a program to test the ram. So after you have the RAM configured, run Memtest to check for any errors.

EDIT:

If you figure out a problem that was from one of your other threads it is better to keep it in that thread. It just keeps the people that were already working with you more updated on the solution. Just FYI :D

How would you normally do this on win7 ect?

Yeah sorry about that but it wasn't my thread and the problem was resolved didn't think it'd be alright to bump it asking someone for a how to guide
 
Wow sorry about that. :o I didn't even realize that it was not your thread. You are right it is better to create a new thread for your own problem.

XMP only for sandy bridge cpus so can you post your specs so I can better help you figure out what to do?
