RAM timings

Hi there, i have 1 x 512Mb stick of DDR Kingston RAM. I was just having a snoop around CPU-Z and stumbled accross my timings. Are these good/generic/bad timings or what. Im no expert in the field of RAM.

Timings = 3.0 3 3 8

I would think that your timings would be 3-4-4-8 but oh well. What kind of kingston RAM do you have (ValueRAM, HyperX, etc)?

Ok, i've not overclocked or done anything to it, just stuck it in and started the system in, as for what make of kingston, im not sure. Can you tell me, how do i go about toghtening the timings, is there any special pattern to follow or any rules to keep or is it just change and see if it boots?

change it, save it, try and boot it :) if it doesn't work, loosen them, drop the speed or bump the voltage

Ok, i habve tightened em up a bit and if i go any further from what they are now it starts beeping at me and doesnt boot, its running fine and stable. How do i increase voltage to RAM if it is locked in my BIOS.

WOW, that is so cool, i have to get me one of those. But i will prob wait til i get a new mobo though.

Am i right in saying that when i cant boot and it just beeps it is because there is not enough voltage supplied to the module or is it just because the RAM isnt that good and cant physically go that low on the timings?

Both and/or either. Depends on what RAM you've got now and what settings and clocks you've got it running at. Id say the mobo sucks though regardless.

Yeh, i know it sucks but i was on a real REAL tight budget when i built this system so i had to skimp in a few places, mobo was one of them. I am compiling a new system quote onlin, i'll give ya a look at it when im done, see what ya think...

Right, im finished quoting, this is what it shall be when i have the cash.

Please post back with any suggestions or recommendations...
