Ram Upgrade Nightmare

Hey guys,

just signed up after haviong a nightmare upgrading the RAM on my computer. I have upgraded RAM on machines in the past and it's been very simple but this time it's different.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ5306UK Desktop computer, which has a quad core 2.5 gz processor. It's 64 bit and runs Windows 7 Home Premium. I am trying to replace the 4gb Ram (2x 2gb 1066 DDR3) with 8gb (2x4gb 1333 DDR3) and the compuer is just making and awful bleeping sound and won't boot. There is definitely no loose connection with the Ram or graphics card as it's been and and out as has the old RAM, which still runs fine. I changed advanced settings in windows to allow for up to 8192gb also in case that was the probem.

Any ideas peeps?

try putting each of the 4gb memory modules in seperate and lets us know if there are any error beeps from either of them

I have tried leaving one of the stick in on it's own already and get the same result. That's pretty shit for a modern-ish machine to only support 4gb. Is it a case of each socket is limited to 2gb and there's only the 2 slots then?

hmmm...if so is it worth getting some faster Ram than the 1066 that's in there or consider a new motherboard?
