Hi I just wanna ask something for my friend.

He wants to know whether the new 512 RAM will fit into his motherboard (and i wanna know too ;) )

The motherboard model: Intel Desktop Board D845GEBV2

Information: http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/bv2/index.htm

The old RAM: ValueRAM KVR266X64C25 256MB 2.5V PC2100 DIMM

Information: http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator/PartsInfo.asp?ktcpartno=KVR266X64C25/256

The new RAM: Kingston KVR400X64C3A 512MB RAM PC3200 DIMM

Information: http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator/PartsInfo.asp?ktcpartno=KVR400X64C3A/512

Thanks :)

then it should work. if you kept the 256, it would of been a major bottleneck

thanks

but what do you mean by bottleneck? do you mean the 256 and 512 RAM can be slotted in the board together...even they run at different speed??

they can be slotted, but will only go as fast as the slowest stick, which is pc2100, which is alot slower than pc2700. so dont bother putting it in

if i have a gig stick that runs at 333mhz and a stick of 256mb that also runs at 333mhz, will the 256 stick still create a bottleneck?

From my understanding at the above posts...it shouldn't be because they are running at the same speed

Hey guys...my friend changed the ram half an hour ago, but he couldn't start the computer and got the beep sound from the motherboard. then he changed back the old 256mb ram and the computer still couldn't start!!!!

my god...i didn't know exactly what he has done...the power supply is running but just couldn't boot up...did he damage the RAM or the board??? Please help!!!

it is the same when the ram is in the different slot.

today i put the ram in my computer to test and it is ok...so it is not about the ram.

i put my pci debug card into my friend's computer and the "bios" and "frame" led never turn on....so i think the motherboard bios is damaged...am i correct??? the debug card user manual didnt mention that

would there is any chance that my friend didnt slot the ram correctly onto the motherboard at the first time so that he blow up the motherboard???
