RAM upgrade...what do I need?

Just ordered a Compaq PResario 6735s-KS115UT and it only comes with 1 GB. I want 2 but not sure what kind it takes.

The description said "DDR2 SDRAM 1 DIMM"

I cannot find anything about pins or anything else.

Should I use the same brand when upgrading or can I keep the one that already comes in it?
 
It will come with Vista. Should I just scrap the 1 gig stick that comes with it and buy 2 2gb sticks? It can hold up to 8 GB.

Do you think it is 200 pin? I think most laptops are.

Are you getting it from Tiger Direct? If you are the processor is gonna kill you, its a Sempron. What do you plan on doing with the laptop? Memory required is ddr2 800mhz.
 
I got it from Comp USA and it is a Sempron.

All I want it for is some Wi Fi browsing and maybe watch a DVD once in a while, that is preaty much it.

I did some research and I think it should be DDR2 800 200 pin.

I might pick up 2 1gig sticks if I can can find some for 25.00 or so.
 
Thanks guys, I am holding off for this weekend. I think I will find a great deal.

I also read some articles that unless you are heavy into editing, 2gb works the same as 4gb, true?

All I want this laptop for is Wi Fi and watching DVD's.

BTW, thanks so much for all the help.
 
2gb will be plenty. Anything more heavier than what you plan on doing with the laptop then you may want to get 3gb.
