I am currently running 2 gigs on vista 1 gb stick that is pc2-4200 and one that is pc2-5300would there be an increase in speed if i upgraded to a dual channel pc5300 667 mhz kit? I still have use for the old ram that will go into a different computer that has 512 mb now, but would i notice a increase in speed? Do i lose dual channel by having 2 seperate sticks with different speeds? according to cpu-z the ram is currently running at 266 mhz sigh. I do not plan on overclocking, I am not a fan of overclocking.

If you currently have 2GB of DDR3 533, I wouldnt both upgrade to 667, if your motherboard supports it, you should upgrade to at least DDR2 800. Although I would only do that if you can get a good deal on your current ram.

I looked up the specifications on the ASUS P5SD2-X. The fastest your motherboard will run memory at without overclocking is PC2-5300 speeds (probably around 333 megahertz).

I don't think you would have much of a noticeable difference if you upgrade to dual channel PC2-5300 memory from what you currently have.

I have run my memory in single channel and dual channel mode and have only noticed a slight increase in processing speed.
