you don't "free up" physical memory. You can delete files in your hard drive to make room for more files. Physical memory is ram, which [in basic terms] is a small amount of memory that can store and dispose of data in extremely quick amounts of time. Your physical memory doesn't need "freeing up" because there is hardly any data on there that consistently remains there.
I'm guessing your problem is either:
You need more hard drive capacity --> buy another hard drive (western digital 320gb?)
you need more/better ram --> specs of your computer will help us decide if you need to shell out cash for some new sticks or if you're better off getting a new computer.
Good point on the HDD being full. But it has been so long since I filled one up I can't remember? Do they call it memory? If they do they say HDD? Doesn't it say HDD is full. What I mean is OP is specific "RAM", also he did not say trouble installing. He says trouble running. Any game real game needs more than 1GB of disk space.
And to point out, in technical terms drive storage is not "memory" anyone who wants to argue be aware I lost that discussion so not like I would not get and agree with your points. Just I was already overruled, I lost.
We do agree. I want his component info. I am at this point thinking the GPU? I don't know if he has a Intel 945 IGP? I am without enough info to comment as all the rest of us are.We computer-educated people relate memory to RAM. Physical memory is the same thing as RAM, [mostly]. HDD is hard disk drive, the hard drive. 1GB-2GB is like the baseline for the amount of RAM you should have, but 4GB is the standard.
Literally, memory could refer to HDD storage, but we relate memory to RAM in computer terms.
